Johan Svensson

The poetic strain in this artistīs work, expressed in a way that treats the strange as familiar and vice versa, is delightful and rare. The combination of this singular vision, with a dexterous, inventive and matter of fact means of making, produces objects with great iconic potency and resonance. Developing them into full-scale "worlds", either through amassing encyclopedic compendia of drawings or constructing full scale installations both seem persuasive and fruitful avenues to pursue. Giving rein to his fantasy while preserving the economy in expression will provide a sure basis for future projects.
